Notice - Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Hazleton fire Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for Appointment as Firefighter in the Hazleton Fire Department. An application form and details of the selection process will be available starting Wednesday, March 18, 2026. It may be obtained either at the Mayor’s Office – Executive Assistant, Second Floor, City Hall, 40 North Church Street, Hazleton, Pennsylvania, 18201, Monday thru Friday from 10:00 A. M. to 3:30 P. M. or you can download the application at the link below. Applications must be COMPLETED, NOTARIZED and RETURNED on or before NOON (12:00PM) FRIDAY, APRIL 24, 2026.

The City of Hazleton's Fire Department is equipped with three pumpers, one ladder, one tower ladder, one squad and three chief vehicles.
The International Association of Fire Fighters Local 507 mans three stations throughout Hazleton with 23 dedicated members, protecting the lives and property of all city residents.
In addition to these paid firefighters, the people of the City of Hazleton are also protected by more than 200 volunteer firefighters who play a vital role in the City's fire defense system.
Hazleton firefighters also conduct fire safety training with the city.
